Bobby Bear Crochet Pattern

I've published a new crochet pattern: Bobby Bear. The bear is about 7" tall (17.5 cm). The pattern is available on Etsy, Ravelry and on Amazon.

Crocodile Stitch

I saw a book to make "Crocodile Stitches" on Amazon. I did not know how to do this and had a go. It's very easy and beautiful. If you can do chain and double crochet you can do this too. You can read how to make the Crocodile Stitch in the book "Crochet Stitch Fashions" on Amazon.

Materials:The scarf can be made using any yarn you wish. Choose a hook size that matches the yarn.
- 5.00 mm hook
- Schachenmayr Ecologico Color;  Aran Weight Yarn
 
Size:
90 inches long (include fringe) and 5.5 inches wide

US Crochet Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
st = stitch
sl = slip

Scarf: Working in back loops only.
Row 1: Ch 250, dc in fourth chain from hook, sc in next 246 chs, turn. (247)
Row 2-10: Ch 3 (count as one dc), dc in next 246 sts, turn. (247)
Row 11: Ch 3(count as one dc), dc in next 246 sts, fasten off. (247)

Fringe:
Cut 44 pieces of yarn, 12 inches long. Hold one strand of yarn fold it in half, use a crochet hook to pull it through the end of rows. There will be a little loop on one side, pull the yarn through that little loop to make a knot. You can trim the ends to whatever length you like.

Crocheted Carpet

My mother-in-law gave two big boxes filled with yarns. (Recycled yarns and leftovers). I used it to create this beautiful carpet. It's 160 x 110 cm.

I used a 19mm crochet hook to crochet approx 12 to 15 strands of yarn together. It's colourful and soft.

The Piggy Hat was made for my daughter for a play. It fits many sizes as it expands easily. To easily print this pattern you can download the pattern as a PDF file. A German translation is available on my German Blog.

Materials:
1) 10.00 mm hook (US = N, UK = 000)
2) Super Chunky yarn (Sirdar Big Softie shade 0332, 2 balls of 50gm)
3) a little bit of Black yarn for embroider 2 lines on nose
4) Polyester fiberfill for stuff nose
5) Two 12 mm black buttons for eyes
6) Tapestry needle
7) Sewing needle and thread for attaching eyes

Size: Piggy Hat = 21” (5T-preteen 20.5"-21.5")

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
st = stitch
sl = slip
rnd = round
tog = together

Cap:
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in second chain from hook, join with sl st in first st. (6)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, join with sl st in first st. (12)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, (sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) around, join with sl st in first st. (18)

Reverse sc (Crab stitch) is working from left to right, insert hook in next st to the right and complete as sc.

Piggy Ears (make 2):
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 5 sc in second chain from hook, join with sl st in first st. (5)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, join with sl st in first st. (10)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, (sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st) 2 times, join with sl st in first st. (12)
Rnd 4: Ch 1, (sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st) 2 times, join with sl st in first st. (14)
Rnd 5: Ch 1, (sc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st) 2 times, join with sl st in first st. (16)
Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st in first st.
Rnd 7: Ch 1, (sc in next 2 sts, sc next 2 sts tog) around, join with sl st in first st. Leave long end for sewing. (12)

Piggy Snout:
Rnd 1: Ch 4, sc in second chain from hook, sc in next ch, 3 sc in next ch; working in remainingcloops on opposite side of chain, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch. (8)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around.
Rnd 3: Working in back loops only. Sc in each st around, join with sl st in first st. Leave long end for sewing, fasten off.

Finishing:
Sew ears on rnds 4-7 of cap. Sew eyes 7 sts apart between rnds 8-9 of cap. Sew nose on rnds 12-15. With black yarn, embroider 2 lines on nose.

How to connect legs together for an Amigurumi Doll

I usually crochet the legs for a doll first and then join the legs together. This diagram shows how I connect the legs.

After connected the legs, crochet up for the body and then the head.

Halloween Girls: Easy Crochet Pattern for a Little Witch, Devil and Pumpkin Girl

How to choose crochet hook size and yarn for Amigurumi dolls?

3 to 8 inch Dolls: use 4 ply/ DK yarn with 3-3.25 mm hooks.

Big dolls: use Worsted Weight/ Aran or Chunky yarn with 4-5.5 mm hooks.

If you want to make a doll which is bigger than in the pattern, use a bigger hook and thicker yarn. Likewise for a smaller doll use a smaller hook and thinner yarn.

Below are the tables of  the “Standard Yarn Weight System” and “Crochet Hook Conversion” which you can use as a guideline for the yarn and crochet hook.

Notes:

• GUIDELINES ONLY: The above reflect the most commonly used gauges and needle or hook sizes for specific yarn categories.
• Lace weight yarns are usually knitted or crocheted on larger needles and hooks to create lacy, openwork patterns. Accordingly, a gauge range is difficult to determine. Always follow the gauge stated in your pattern.
• Steel crochet hooks and UK/Canadian hooks are the higher the number, the smaller the hook.
