6 MILLION DOLLAR CHAIR - upholstered white chair

This post is for my dear friend Bliss.
She requested some insights into chair upholstery,
but Bliss should know she would get a bit more than what she asked for.

Below is how our chair was found.

Ladies, we can rebuild her.

We have the technology.

We have the capability to build the world's best chair.

Our hero will be that chair.

Better than she was before.

Better,

stronger,

and more fascinating.

Okay enough of the open theme to the popular 70's show
The six million dollar man.

The toughest part to reupholstery I find is the tear down.
It's dirt and dangerous to your hands with all the old rusty nails and staples.

I use 2 manual staple guns loaded with different sized staples,
1/4 inch and 1/2 inch.

Keep in mind,
Not every piece has to be upholstered the same as the way you found it.

This chair was upholstered with a set of white quilted pillow shames found second hand,
and edged with new trim from the fabric store.

I know there are many of you out there with an upholstery project staring at you
wanting to know when you will get started. I'm no different.

HEDWIG - shabby chic shopping

Tomorrow is my birthday, I'll be 29 again, okay 40 something
and I know as soon as I tell you it's my birthday many of you will be
so kind and send birthday wishes so to thank you in adavance
I flew all the way from Vancouver to Florida to bring you all a very rare treat.

There is a hidden jewel of a shop in St. Petersburg Florida that you all
would love to visit but because you can't I have brought it to you.

Greeting you on the side walk is a magical life size rabbit dressed in his best party clothes
sitting upon a cow hide upholstered french settee.
I said RARE!

Upon entering this magical place you start to see the most wonderful
pieces of furniture painted in white.

Forget any worldly concerns you might have because
everything you see is surely here to ensure a journey into a fantasy land.

During your visit you start to notice all the amazing upholstered
chairs finished in a variety of fabrics including vintage chenilles and quilted florals.

Trimmed in pink and accent by the designs of the original fabrics
these chairs make you rethink a small corner of your own world.

Vignettes abound everywhere you look.

Including this miniature scene contained in a little box,

and the most cozy and inviting bed.

Many more pictures of this wonderful place can be seen
from a previous visit here.

HAVE I GOT A CHAIR FOR U - additions to the showroom

1 fabulous balloon back chair upholstered in a durable pink floral with nailhead trim,
and
1 vintage desk chair with carved details, painted and upholstered in bright white.

The reclaimed fabric used on this chair is a soft cord in beige with a
bright white lace strip and floral print in pinks.

The frame is painted in bright white with distressing to
show the nature wood underneath, a great shabby chic look.

The upholstery chosen for this second chair comes from a set of white
quilted pillow shams and has a beautiful raised floral print.

The entire chair has been painted in white over soft grey and distressed back
to show signs of the grey.
