A LIL CHIPPY MAKES A GREAT SHABBY - chippy french nightstands

I just finished up a fun pair of bedside tables.

I bought a broken antique table, ... okay let me start that again.
I paid money for a dozen little pieces of wood that used to be a table with pretty legs.
There was no top and in the end I was fortunate that I found all the other pieces but
I didn't know when I handed the money over.

The body of these nightstands were a part of a cute set I purchased on Craig's list.
Not my usual playground but they worked perfectly for my plans.

The ceramic and metal knobs I brought back from our time on vacation.

The drawers have a great decorative arched detail on the face.

This pair of chippy and shabby bedside tables is currently listed in the SHOWROOM
with price and dimensions.
You can also find a side by side before and after pic here.

CLASSIC FRENCH - 6 drawer dresser

Today is a simple project,
but always a fun project when using ASCP and wax.

I used bright white ASCP and clear wax,
with a gentle distressing to the curves and details.

The six drawers work great after finding the right positions for them,
and a little help from me.

It has classic provincial hardware and

fabulous solid wood cabriole legs.

Dove tailed drawers

Manufactured by Henry Link.

This chest of drawers also matches this cute single night table.

A PROVINCIAL PAIR - nightstand and hiboy

Right now George is working countless hours running his business and doing deliveries,
which intern giving me extra time to work on painting guilt free.
This hiboy and nightstand are one of the latest projects that have been completed.

I'd like to say it was a simple redo, and in simple terms it was.
No repairs were needed.

However it did take countless hours to pianted both pieces in Old White

Then wax both pieces, removing the excess as I went along.

Then washed them in thinned out Graphite chalk paint and remove the excess.

Wax and polish every inch of the dresser and table again.

Once all that was done,
I hand painted each handle with Graphite chalk paint highlighting the girly curves.

The final step was to prep the arborite tops with a primer.

Wrap the body in plastic and get them outside before spraying the top in a glossy black.

PAINTED HARDWARE - single white distressed nightstand

I finished up another cute shabby chic bedside table

I added a set of cabriole legs.

Painted her in old white chalk paint.

Distressed and waxed her so she is super soft to the touch.

But this post is about how I got the fabulous look of the new handles.
I swapped the original hardware for these provincial handles
that I had already painted and given an aged look.

I did them when refinishing a tall boy last month

I simple left the handles on the dresser when I sprayed the turquoise color.

Then lightly distressed with a few hits from the sand paper.

Dark Walnut stain was rubbed over them to add the aged look.
Wax was then applied to bring back the vibrant turquoise color before removing them
from the highboy and letting them set.

Now on the back-drop of the white paint they look marvelous.

I used 4 of them to finish a set of tables that have already found a new home,
and the final 2 to finish this single night stand below.

CUPBOARD WAXING - shabby chic cupboard nightstands

We found a great little pair of bedside tables while we were
second hand shopping recently.

This is one of those deceiving before photos where the items look better then they actually are.
Why doesn't that happen when we want it to?

I removed the hardware and gave them a good cleaning.

The doors have glass inserts which come out very easily making painting
a lot smoother.

I spray painted the handles bright white.

I chose to paint the inside of the cupboard which taught me,
waxing and buffing the inside of cupboards isn't a lot of fun.

The glass insert in the doors have a pretty white boarder detail which accents the handles nicely.

I used old white chalk paint in the sprayer and hand sanded to distress these little gems.

I added a soft rose printed paper for a drawer liner.
