A LITTLE BIT OF WILD INSIDE - european desk finished

You might recall the other day I showed you this little desk vanity I saved from our yard sale.

Notice the angle the above photo was taken has lined up the tree lines on both sides.
Almost like magic, you could step right thru into another world.
WONDERLAND or maybe NARNIA?

So in keeping with the wild side of fantasy,
she got some fun zebra, snake skin, and polka dot drawer liners.
This was a trio of wrapping paper I found at HomeSense last year.

The whole piece received 3 sprayed clear coats outside with the spray gun.
This created the rougher textured surface I want to match the rustic feel on the body.

Then the top surface got an additional 2 clear coats brushed on to finish it.

She turned out perfect, better then I could have imagined.
She sold to a great couple with in hours of advertising.
If you missed the *before* you can see it and a few more pics here.

SLEEPING BEAUTY - art deco china cabinet

AURORA

I received an email from a local follower Victoria, asking if I
wanted a couple of furniture odds and ends she had. Nothing major
but things I could store and use in the future when necessity called.
While visiting and talking with Victoria this art deco china cabinet
came up. She had bought it with great intentions but before
commencing on the revamping task she came across a second
cabinet that matched her needs better. So it was now up for sale.

Please meet Aurora!

Yes, I named her after sleeping beauty.

Aurora's jewelry looked like that of a night owl's big saucer eyes,

so it was time to get to working on a new look for this princess

She got a bath, and a new pair of shoes.

A tiara,

and a matching necklace,

She got a new dress

with all the pretty bouquets of flowers

her eyes started to lit up with excitement because

Aurora has even found her prince charming

 in JACK.
You can read more about Jack here.

ISLAND RETREAT - cabinet transformation

Come see what happen to this unwanted mid-century cabinet!

It had a horrible moldy cardboard backer which I replaced with hardwood flooring
leftovers from our entry room project the month before, along with the new work surface.

Believe it or not but these fancy shelf corbels are actually resin books ends
from a local home decor store and they were discounted to boot.

Many salvaged molding pieces were used to accent the finished
product along with an applique to the face of the top drawer.
This also covered the dated routering in the drawer
as well as the molding trimming to the 2 side doors.

If you look closely I actually turned the whole cabinet upside down.
This made the large drawer more accessible, then shifted the position of
the smaller drawer as well as the glass door.
We purchased 2 dark wood saddle stools from Craig's list to finish things off.

We love eating meals here now.
